WHO WE ARE
Cultivating Community is a community interest company with an social mission to alleviate loneliness and isolation through nature connectedness.
We are based in Frome, Somerset and run two nature based sites Victoria Park Community Cafe, and Broadway Community Gardens.
To fund our work we have a plant buying club and we make bespoke packets of seeds as favours or gifts for events and special occasions.

We also offer work skills training for those that traditionally find the pathway into work challenging. Young people gain hands-on experience in a supportive working environment, learning everything from customer service to kitchen skills. This not only equips them with practical skills but also boosts their confidence and prepares them for future employment. .
100% of all the income we generate from the cafe and our plant buying club support our horticultural therapy work to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of people who may be isolated or lonely. We work with a number of local community organisations to provide both space or bespoke activities that support people with a range of challenges.
would you like to be involved?
Become a volunteer: Like many organisations volunteer support is at the heart of everything they do. If you have skills and time you would like to contribute to either the café or the garden join their teams.
Organise a corporate volunteer away day: Talk to your boss about doing a corporate volunteer away day at Broadway Community Gardens. There is nothing like digging up bind weed to bring people together.
Make Cultivating Community your community organisation of the year: The team have a lot of fundraising goals in 2025 to make Broadway Community Gardens really special, why not put a composting toilet at the top of your companies secret Santa list.
Join our plant buyers club:
Sign up to our plant buying mailing list to be first in line for off-season wholesale perennial plants at attractive prices, whether that’s edible forest plants, bare root perennials, roses or even herbs. Not only does the club help fund our work, but it also encourages sustainable gardening practices like fewer plastic pots and less transport mileage.
